Senior Sales Specialist (Automation) Remote Working – Northern England
COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE
Our client is an established, and rapidly growing engineering business, with strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant. Possessing a strong set of values, their team work, culture and ethics are at the root of their success. The company are a leading automation integrator, working with manufacturers to automate repetitive processes and increase the capacity of their existing team.Due to continued growth and to drive the next phase they’re seeking to appoint two Senior Sales Specialists to cover the Northern Region (Roughly the North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire). The region will be split between the two successful candidates, and as these are primarily remote working roles, the geographic split may logically be influenced in part by the relative location of each candidate.
The role has no direct reports, but comes with a senior designation due to the requirement for a high level of competency, and the demonstrable ability to self-manage, self-motivate, develop leads and close new business/orders (bespoke automation units) in a manufacturing ‘solutions selling’ environment.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic highly motivated and reward oriented professional, with a real desire to help impact and grow the business, while benefiting directly from the commensurate increase in earnings, as well as the longer career development potential.
You must be able to develop leads and put forward competent and commercially persuasive propositions at business owner/director level, and possess engineering / technical sales experience. Experience of CNC and/or welding process, and/or industrial automation/robotics would be highly advantageous.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities in the manufacturing sector, focusing on SMEs involved in CNC machine tending and welding. Utilize leads provided by the call centre and also generate your own through industry research, networking, and targeted outreach.
• Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve and exceed sales targets. This includes identifying key accounts, setting objectives, and deploying effective sales tactics to drive growth.
• Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers within target companies. Present and demonstrate the value of our Cobots and automation solutions, aligning them with the client’s specific needs and challenges.
• Manage the entire sales cycle from initial contact to closing the deal. This includes negotiating terms, preparing proposals, and ensuring client satisfaction to secure repeat business.
• Work closely with our technical and product teams to ensure a seamless handover from sales to implementation. Bring in technical experts as needed to support client discussions and product demonstrations.
• Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities. Provide feedback to the product development and marketing teams to refine our offerings and go-to-market strategies.QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
• A strong track record in technical sales, ideally within the manufacturing or industrial automation sector.
• Demonstrable history of meeting and exceeding sales targets (generating commission), showcasing your ability to drive growth and deliver results.
• Experience in selling capital equipment or automation solutions.
• Highly motivated, results-oriented, and driven by the challenge of securing new order, growing the business and maximising your own earnings potential
• Willingness to travel extensively across the region to meet clients and attend industry events. Your flexibility ensures that you can be present where and when your clients need you.
• You will reside in the North East, Cumbria, or Yorkshire, and should ideally possess an understanding of the region that will allow you to identify and capitalize on market opportunities effectively.
• Solid understanding of CNC machine tending, welding processes, and/or the application of automation / robotics solutions within these and other manufacturing environments.
• Ability to leverage your technical knowledge to provide tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of your clients.
• Note: Candidates must hold a full UK Driving licence with no more than six penalty points.DETAILS OF PACKAGE
Remote working: Up to £70,000 PA (Basic salary to 50K Dep on Exp.) + Car/Allowance + Commission (1st YR Circa 22k+ Rising to 40k+ in 2nd YR) + Benefits
