SCOPE OF ROLE:
Due to continued growth our client is seeking to appoint a Digital Systems Engineer to help maximise production efficiency.  Reporting into the Automation and Control Manager, and working alongside a highly professional in-house team the successful candidate will be directly involved in the creation of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and cloud based solutions, and will assist in research and development projects, as well as consideration of compliance, assurance and other engineering disciplines.
 
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a forward thinking company in fast paced engineering environment, you will be helping to deliver projects and will be directly involved with planning workload, milestones, and contingency plans, you will support the planning of project budgets and deliverables where required 
 
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Direct involvement in the creation of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and cloud based solutions from conception and ideation, and where appropriate installing, commissioning, debugging or re-coding, whether remotely, on own premises or at a client/customer site:
-Creating workflows/philosophies for program organisation.
-Wiring and connection to commission and configure devices, including setting up of networking / communications.
-Interpreting client’s wishes and converting to programmatic format.
-Troubleshooting, debugging and code alterations.
-Setting up PC/Server equipment.
•Developing and maintaining an understanding of the company standards and protocols – Communication and engagement across the business.
•Working within small / medium teams as well as multi-disciplined site teams from other areas and companies, on collaborated projects. Occasionally multiple small teams / projects when the need arises.
•Be able to work from your own initiative to a high standard, with advanced problem-solving skills. 
•Establish targets and deadlines with internal and external teams for tasks and follow up documentation in the relevant timescales.
•Work with and assist in the development of best in class digital and transformative technologies, keeping up at the forefront of technological boundaries.
•Interpretation and the ability to seek out relevant standards, directives, regulations and guidelines and technical documentation.
•Reading and producing engineering standards / SOP’s / Workflows for both clients and for the purpose of transferring them to digitalisation systems.
•Reading, producing, updating and altering engineering drawings / schemes / programs and project-based documentation.
•Working with in-house patented Robotics System.
•IMPORTANT: The role will involve an element of hybrid working as well as National and International travel
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES AND REQUIREMENTS:
ESSENTIAL
•ONC / HNC / HND with NVQ 3 type experience or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering 
•Computer literate to a high standard in:
•2D/3D CAD
•PLC / HMI / SCADA 
•MS Teams, MSOffice, Office 365, Microsoft Azure
•Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems (servo, drives, Pneumatics, and Hydraulics etc.)
•Knowledge of machinery and process line / process equipment.
•PLC Programming knowledge / experience, with a willingness to train on new systems.
•In depth knowledge of control and safety systems
•Must have strong written and verbal communication skills through, integration with staff members and clients.
•Ability to work to specific standards, regulations and guidelines, with a willingness to research previously unfamiliar areas of knowledge
•Ability and willingness to undertake hybrid working and to attend meetings, UK wide, overseas
DESIRABLE
•Experience of hazardous locations (ATEX. IECEX, NEC505).
 
DETAILS OF SALARY / PACKAGE:
Up to £56,000 PA Approx., including Travel Bonus (Basic Salary Circa £38,500 PA / £18.50PH) + Paid Overtime + Subsidence Allowances / Overtime Payable at premium rates Sat: T+1/2; Sun Double Time / Travel  (“Away Stay” Bonus) Approx. £50 Per night in UK) / Subsidence Allowances (Approx. £25 Per Day in UK) 
NB: Rates, Allowances and Subsistence payments /arrangement will vary for International projects and may be increased, depending on the contract /Frequency and Duration of Travel: UK and International travel will be essential in order to perform the necessary duties and responsibilities, however it’s anticipated that the full extent of any travel shouldn’t exceed 12 to 16 working weeks over the course of a year / Travel Time: Travel time will be paid. (in excess of 1 hour and outside of normal working hours). Weekend travelling paid @1.2 / Standard working hours: 08:00 to 16:30 pm Monday to Friday. (Some flexibility will be required) / 25 Days holiday – plus Bank holidays (reserved approximately 5-6 days for a 2 week shutdown at Christmas) / Employee pension scheme.
